Mark James

Mark James, gallery owner and artist has been involved in the art world for the past 49 years. Starting at a young age Mark was framing art at 14, but his interest quickly turned to the art itself, gaining knowledge about both historical and modern art and artists. Mark has during his career owned several galleries in Scotland and since 2017 in Tallinn, Estonia, working and managing many artists along the way.

In 1993, whilst working full-time running his business, Mark obtained his Marketing Degree from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in Glasgow, this allowed him to build upon the knowledge and experience he had already gained having his own business. His career may be based in the business side of things, ensuring the day to day running of his galleries, organising exhibitions and working with artists, but his greatest passion is for the art itself.

Mark has over the years taken a great interest in the creation of his artists work, concepts and creative process. He has taken classes in his spare time and watched how artists use different media to create their finished works, always curious to learn how beautiful works are accomplished. Ten years ago, Mark decided to start working on his own ideas, using the information he had absorbed over his time in the art world to create his own original art.

Marks work as you see it now comes from years of practice with his chosen medium, his work reflects his character, it is colourful and vibrant. Mark builds layers of texture and colour to get his finished creation, which represents the love and passion he is full of for his friends, family and art itself.
